About the Artist…
The Slovakian born photographer, Roman Novitzky, is still active as a star dancer of the Stuttgart Ballet but somehow, next to the immense demands of this all-consuming profession he has managed to build two others; that of an up and coming choreographer of note (please see CTA choreographer page) and also that of the recently appointed house photographer of the famous Stuttgart Ballet itself. When you study the body of work that Mr. Novitzky has managed to accumulate over the years it is clear why. He has followed his passion to document the world around by photographing the world around him with the insight and experience of a dancer and an artist to guide him. He understands the perfection that a dancer aspires to, yet he also intrinsically feels the poetry of the moment when an artist successfully transcends their surroundings to live the sceme they are portraying. With this very special perspective to guide him Roman’s career has skyrocketed from taking pictures in the wings between his own entrances as a dancer to now overtaking many of the large photographic projects of the great dance institution that is the Stuttgart Ballet. Roman has taken photos for the companies program books, website, press releases and publicity CD’s. Dance is a visual experience and Roman’s images have captured this essence and been used for postcards, posters, calendars, public exhibitions and even his own book release.
Both Dance and Photography are demanding art forms, but it is the rare artist who can bring them both together.
