Angel Rodriguez
The Madrid-born choreographer Ángel Rodriguez received his education from Flor Sánchez and the Spanish National Ballet School under the direction of Carmen Roche. His career as a dancer led him as a soloist to the ballet of the Grand Thèâtre de Geneve, first under Oscar Aráiz and later under the direction of Gradimir Pankov. Back in Spain, he was appointed as principle dancer to the Compañia Nacional de Danza under the artistic direction of Nacho Duato, for whom he also developed his own ballets. As co-director he worked in the direction of the ballet Carmen Roche, where he also created numerous choreographies. Invitations as a freelance choreographer have taken him to various dance companies in Spain, Austria and Russia, including the Tanz Company Innsbruck, the Mikhailovsky Ballet Theater Saint Petersburg and the Conservatorio Profesional de Danza de Madrid. For several works he has received prizes at national competitions.
